QIAN Lihuai

钱利淮

Qian Lihua is a bamboo weaving artist and an inheritor of intangible cultural heritage. Growing up in a bamboo weaving family, he was deeply influenced by the craft from a young age. After graduating from university, he decided to revive the traditional Chinese bamboo weaving, a craft both familiar and in need of renewal. He is dedicated to establishing a foundational system for Chinese bamboo weaving and embarking on a creative journey to make this ancient craft shine.

He has collaborated on various art projects, including the BVLGARI Serpenti 75th Anniversary "Heritage Metamorphosis" Art Exhibition, the LOUIS VUITTON Hard Case Exhibition in Hangzhou, and Budweiser's large-scale Year of the Dragon project across fifteen cities. In 2023, he was an exhibitor at the 6th China International Import Expo [China Pavilion] and served as an academic advisor for the "Fusion: Weaving Design Exhibition" at Design Shanghai. His work has been featured in international and domestic exhibitions, including the Venice Biennale, a solo exhibition at Tokyo Gallery, Singapore Contemporary Gallery, Budapest Art Fair, and personal exhibitions in Shanghai and Qingdao.

Representative works include "Wuzhen Giant Plaque," a landmark at Wuzhen Scenic Area, "Interconnected Paths," which was presented to IOC President Thomas Bach during the Hangzhou Asian Games, "Morning Star - Bamboo Weaving," which won the Gold Award at the 6th China (Zhejiang) Arts and Crafts Exposition, "Bamboo Weaving Brocade Box," collected by the Guanfu Museum founded by Mr. Ma Weidu, and "Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter," collected by the Zhejiang Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum.
